Mathematics, Business and Computing Maha Amer, Associate Director for Academic Computing OP., ACS AUC Downtown Campus means a lot to me!! The most important memories I have there is when I first met my husband. I met him in the 6th floor of the Science building as he was an engineer in NCR Company and I worked in the computer center that had NCR machines. He used to come to our department to fix the computer mainframe that we had on rental basis at the time.
Other memories are related to my undergraduate studies. As I was majoring in Mathematics, I frequently had a good chance to sit in the sun in the fountain area, as Mathematics majors do not suffer from those long labs! The fountain area of the main campus carries many lovely memories and interesting incidences. I hope we will still get a chance to see this area after we move!!
I also have nice memories in the Greek campus when I was studying my MBA. We used to sit there and rehearse our presentations, quarrel together, study in the last minute for exams, and sometimes chat with our professors.
The old Falaki brings me bad memories as it reminds me of when I had started to attend Computer Science classes in preparation for the Masters in Computer Science. These days are not as nice as I did not really enjoy the courses and I also did not like the rooms and labs of this building.
The oriental Hall means a lot to me as there is where ACS usually held its annual fairs. Many lovely memories are attached to these events. Also during my undergraduate years, used to go in with my friends and play piano and sing there.
Ewart Hall is very dear to me as this is where I had two graduation ceremonies….one for my B.A in Mathematics and the other for my MBA. There is also where I had my first Michigan exam for English proficiency when I first entered AUC. I remember how scared I was and how people were nice to me on that day.
